Deer Creek Lending, and what we do differently

Deer Creek Lending (sometimes searched as "Deer Creek loans") is a tribal lender. Its own site says it is a subdivision of DCH Inc., owned by the Santa Ysabel Economic Development Corporation, a business arm of the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel in California, and its loan terms are governed by tribal and federal law. BBB records show the business started in January 2025.

Plenty of borrowers like how fast it funds. The common complaint is cost: reviewers on Trustpilot and PissedConsumer describe APRs from about 520% to 700% and payments that went mostly to interest. Washington's Department of Financial Institutions has also warned that Deer Creek Lending is not licensed in that state.

DeerCreekLendingApply.com is not a lender. We send your request to several lenders and partners at once, so you can see whether a lower-cost offer exists before you take any high-cost loan.

Rates by credit score

These are typical ranges for personal installment loans from lenders that quote under 36% APR. Short-term lenders that serve lower scores can charge much more, which is exactly why it pays to compare.

What is APR? The annual percentage rate combines interest and required fees into one yearly figure, so it is the fairest way to compare two loans. See rates and APR explained.

What this costs you

Our fee

Sending a request is free whether or not you take a loan.

0% to 8%

Origination fee

Some lenders charge it, usually deducted from the loan. It is already inside the APR they show you.

$0

Prepayment penalty

Most lenders let you pay early at no cost, which cuts the interest you owe. Check your agreement.

How we are paid: lenders and partners may pay us when you submit a request or take a loan. This may affect which offers you see. It never adds to your cost.

Do you meet the basics?

Each lender sets its own rules, but most look for these. Tick each line that is true for you.

Using a short-term loan without regret

A quick gut check before you borrow anywhere, through us or any lender.

Do

  • Borrow for a one-time expense with a clear way to repay.
  • Compare the total of payments, not only the monthly amount.
  • Read the agreement, including late fees and autopay terms.
  • Ask the biller for a payment plan or check a credit union first.
  • Call the lender early if you might miss a payment.

Don't

  • Borrow to cover a gap that comes back every month.
  • Pick an offer because it funds fastest while ignoring the APR.
  • Sign under a countdown timer or any pressure.
  • Stack several small loans with overlapping payments.
  • Pay anyone an upfront fee to "release" a loan. That is a scam.

Who this is for

Short-term credit fits a few situations well. If none of these sound like you, a cheaper option may serve you better.

The bridge builder

Steady paycheck, sudden gap. You know exactly which deposits will repay the loan; you just need the money before they arrive.

The bank-declined borrower

Real income, thin or bruised credit file. Some lenders weigh income and bank activity, not just a score, and price that flexibility higher.

The comparison shopper

You have a Deer Creek Lending or other offer in hand and want a second number to compare before you sign.

Five minutes before you submit

  1. Get the exact number. "About $1,500" often becomes $1,240 once you call the shop. Every dollar you skip borrowing saves interest.
  2. Check cheaper exits. A payment plan from the biller, an employer advance or a credit union payday alternative loan can cost far less.
  3. Test the payment. Run it through the calculator against your tightest month, not your best.
  4. Have documents ready. ID, pay stub and bank details speed up verification.
  5. Set your walk-away APR. Decide the highest APR you will accept before you see any offer.

Belong to a credit union? Federal credit unions can offer payday alternative loans of up to $2,000 with APR capped at 28% and an application fee of no more than $20 (source). If you are a member, ask before you borrow anywhere else.

Need more than a loan? Free, nonprofit credit counseling is available through the National Foundation for Credit Counseling at nfcc.org or 1-800-388-2227.

Common questions

Straight answers about how requests work, what they cost and how we differ from Deer Creek Lending.

See all questions

Still deciding?

Sending a request is free and won't affect your credit score. You only see offers, nothing is final until you sign.

Check my loan options
Is this Deer Creek Lending's website?

No. DeerCreekLendingApply.com is an independent loan-request service. We are not Deer Creek Lending, DCH Inc. or the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel, and we cannot see or manage a Deer Creek Lending account. To apply with Deer Creek Lending or sign in to an existing loan, go to that company's own website.

Will checking my options hurt my credit score?

Sending a request does not affect your FICO score. Many lenders start with a soft inquiry. A lender may run a hard inquiry if you choose its offer and finish its application, and it should tell you before it does.

How much can I request?

You can request $200 to $5,000. Lenders decide the amount they offer, and state law limits some amounts, so an offer can be smaller than your request.

What APR should I expect?

It depends on the lender, your state and your credit. Personal installment lenders commonly quote about 5.99% to 35.99% APR. Some short-term lenders, including tribal lenders, charge far more. Reviewers of Deer Creek Lending, for example, report APRs above 500%. Every lender must show the APR and total of payments before you sign.

How fast could I get the money?

If a lender approves you and you sign, funds often arrive as soon as the next business day. Weekends, holidays and your bank's posting times can add a day or two.

Do you charge a fee?

No. Sending a request is free and you are never obligated to accept an offer. Lenders and partners may pay us, which is how the service is funded.

Can I get offers with bad credit?

Some lenders in the network look at income and bank activity as well as your score. Approval is not guaranteed, and lower scores usually mean higher APRs, so compare the total cost of any offer.

Who will contact me after I submit?

Lenders and lending partners who receive your request may contact you by phone, text or email about offers. You can opt out at any time. Our privacy policy explains who receives your information.
